Location: Capitol Hill, Seattle Timeline: Completed 2010 |
Neighborhood butcher shop located in Capital Hill’s Melrose Market. The shop’s interior features and design retain the goal of staying true to the building’s original auto row architectural style while clearly showing the shop’s intended use. Wanting to recall old neighborhood butcher shops, tile was used in lieu of wood and a working meat trolley has been repurposed to move sides of meat to the cooler. To support in-house preparation of local meats, the shop’s design includes a curing room. To save space, Rain Shadow Meats shares a walk-in cooler with neighboring restaurant, Sitka and Spruce. |
